Instructions
Step 1: Cut a circle from cardboard about 20 centimeters in diameter. This will be the base that holds the petals in place.

Step 2: Tear pages from the book or newspaper you are recycling. Cut each page into squares roughly 8 x 8 centimeters for the main petals.

Step 3: Roll each square into a small cone and secure the edge with a dab of glue. The cones will form the layered petals of the dahlia.

Step 4: Begin gluing the cones onto the cardboard base, starting at the outer edge and working inward. Overlap the cones slightly so the layers look full and even. Leave about 1.5 centimeters between the tops of adjoining cones to maintain a consistent petal pattern. Check that gaps are covered as you build additional layers.

Step 5: For the final inner rows, cut smaller paper squares (about 6.5 x 6.5 centimeters) and roll them into tighter cones to fill the center neatly. If needed, make even smaller cones for the very center to achieve a polished finish.

Once the cones are all glued and the center is complete, your paper dahlia is finished. Fluff or adjust the cones slightly for an even, rounded appearance.
