Camping nostalgia calling? Or prefer a more comfortable version of outdoorsy treats? These Air Fryer S’mores deliver the same sticky, gooey, roasty and toasty satisfaction of the classic campground dessert—without pitching a tent or building a fire.

We love camping as a family and S’mores have always been part of that tradition. Before I introduced my husband to them, he had never tried a single S’more—now it’s a must-have on every trip. With a new baby, we’re excited to head out again, and practicing S’mores in the air fryer seemed like the perfect way to get ready. The result was sticky, gooey, and absolutely delicious—so satisfying it might become a regular treat at home.

What Kind of Chocolate Is Best for S’mores?
For classic S’mores, use a milk chocolate bar that breaks easily into squares. Milk chocolate melts readily and gives the familiar creamy, sweet flavor we’re after. Dark chocolate tends to be firmer and slower to melt, so it’s less ideal for quick indoor methods like the air fryer. Hershey-style milk chocolate bars are a common favorite, but any milk chocolate that snaps into squares will work.
Ingredients

- Graham crackers: 4 sheets, snapped in half to make about 8 squares (Honey Maid or your preferred brand).
- Marshmallows: 4 regular-sized marshmallows (mini or jumbo sizes won’t match the cracker size as well).
- Chocolate: 1 family-size milk chocolate bar, broken into squares.
- Toothpicks: 4 toothpicks to secure marshmallows while cooking.
Instructions

1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). A short preheat of about 3 minutes is usually enough; follow your model’s instructions.
2. Spear each marshmallow with a toothpick and wedge the toothpick into one of the small holes in a graham cracker to anchor the marshmallow. This helps keep the marshmallow in place during cooking.
3. Place the graham cracker with marshmallow in the air fryer, cracker side down and marshmallow facing up. Cook for 3–5 minutes—start checking at 3 minutes. Air fryer performance varies, so adjust timing based on your unit; you’re aiming for a golden, soft marshmallow.
4. Once toasted to your liking, turn off the air fryer and use a silicone spatula to nudge any escaped marshmallow back onto the cracker while it’s still hot and pliable. Carefully remove and discard the toothpick (it may be hot).
5. Add a square of chocolate on top of each cooked marshmallow, then press a fresh graham cracker on top to form the sandwich. Allow to cool slightly, then enjoy immediately.

Tips and Tricks
Air fryer S’mores are deliciously messy—expect sticky, gooey edges. The biggest challenge is preventing marshmallows from being blown around by the appliance’s fan. After experimenting, spearing the marshmallow with a toothpick and wedging it into a cracker hole worked best to keep everything in place. Even with this method, you may need a quick tidy with a silicone or rubber spatula immediately after cooking while the marshmallow is still soft.
Be careful removing toothpicks after cooking—they get hot. Working quickly while the marshmallow is molten makes it easier to tuck any stray edges back onto the cracker and assemble the S’more before the chocolate cools.

Substitutions
If you need to adapt the recipe for dietary needs:
- Gluten-free: Use gluten-free graham crackers and confirm your chocolate is gluten-free.
- Dairy-free: Choose a dairy-free chocolate alternative and check graham cracker labels for dairy-free options. Note that dairy-free chocolate may not melt as smoothly.
Variations
- Nutella: Spread a thin layer of Nutella on the top graham cracker before assembling.
- Dark chocolate: Substitute dark chocolate squares for a less sweet, richer flavor; expect firmer texture.
- Peanut butter cup: Swap in a peanut butter cup for a salty-sweet variation.

Cleaning Tips
- Marshmallow residue is sticky but comes off easily: soak the basket in hot water with dish soap, then wipe clean.
- For easier cleanup next time, consider lining the air fryer basket with parchment paper suitable for air fryers.
