When you’re hosting during the holidays, a simple, elegant appetizer makes all the difference. These white cheddar and apple crostini are a six-ingredient crowd-pleaser that come together in minutes — perfect for serving with wine or cocktails while guests mingle. They’re easy to scale for a small gathering or a larger party, and they work just as well on a cheese board or as a standalone bite.

To make these crostini, slice a loaf of French bread on a slight diagonal into 1/2 to 1-inch thick slices. Arrange the slices on a rimmed baking sheet and top each piece with a slice of white cheddar. While the cheese melts in the oven, thinly slice a honeycrisp apple. When the crostini are golden and the cheese is melty, finish each one with a bit of prosciutto, a few apple slices, and some peppery arugula, then drizzle everything lightly with honey.

This appetizer is quick to assemble and highly adaptable. Make as many crostini as you need and arrange them on a platter for guests to grab. Because the ingredients aren’t overly seasonal, these crostini are great for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any time you want a reliable, flavorful starter.
