Dill Pickle Popcorn is an easy snack sure to please any pickle lover. No artificial flavors or colors — this popcorn delivers real dill flavor. It’s seasoned with dill weed and a blend of spices, and finished with a secret ingredient that really makes it shine: a drizzle of pickle juice instead of butter. Dill pickles are one of those foods people tend to either love or dislike. If you’re a pickle fan, this recipe is for you. Unlike some commercial dill-flavored snacks that are unnaturally bright and overly sour, this dill pickle popcorn tastes fresh and balanced. The flavor comes from a thoughtful seasoning blend and the unexpected but delightful touch of pickle juice, which replaces butter and ties everything together.

Pickle popcorn is a quick, fun snack that can be ready in about five minutes. Start with freshly popped popcorn — I like using a stovetop method such as Dutch Oven Popcorn for best texture and control. If you prefer convenience, microwave popcorn works, too; just be aware that pre-salted microwave varieties may make the finished popcorn noticeably saltier.

Can I use microwave popcorn to make this?

Yes. Microwave popcorn works fine, but the brand and variety affect the final flavor—especially saltiness. If you use a salted microwave variety, reduce or omit any additional salt in the seasoning blend.

Ingredients

  • 12 cups popped popcorn or 1 batch Dutch Oven Popcorn
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher or sea salt (omit if using salted microwave popcorn)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1–2 tablespoons pickle juice

Instructions

  1. Mix together dill weed, salt (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, coriander, and dry mustard to make the seasoning blend.
  2. Drizzle the hot, fresh popcorn with 1 to 2 tablespoons of pickle juice, then toss to coat evenly. Start with less juice and add more to taste so the popcorn doesn’t get soggy.
  3. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the popcorn and toss again until evenly coated.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

This popcorn is best eaten the day it is made. If you need to store leftovers, make sure the popcorn is completely dry before sealing in a zip-top bag to help preserve texture.
