During my trip to New Brunswick I spent a day in Saint Andrews by the Sea and quickly fell in love with this charming coastal town. Below I share what makes Saint Andrews a must-visit destination on any Maritime itinerary.
Saint Andrews By the Sea, New Brunswick
Saint Andrews by the Sea perfectly captures the appeal of a classic Maritime town: colorful sunsets, a main street lined with independent shops, a popular local ice cream shop, and restaurants with waterfront decks. The town’s relaxed pace and scenic views make it a place where you’ll want to linger.

TL;DR: Highlights to help plan your visit:
🏨 Hotels and vacation rentals
📍 Local tours and activities

The town is very walkable. Stroll the main street to browse boutiques, stop for ice cream, and enjoy the harbor views. Saint Andrews makes an excellent stop on a New Brunswick road trip thanks to its compact downtown and scenic waterfront.

At the end of town there’s a small park that’s ideal for watching the sun sink below the horizon. Take care around the shoreline: the Bay of Fundy’s tides are dramatic and can rise quickly. On my visit I wandered out over exposed rocks to take photos, only to discover moments later that the water had crept in and my toes were wet.

The shoreline views change visibly with the tide—what’s a broad rocky beach at low tide becomes a narrow waterline at high tide, so timing your visit around low tide gives you more to explore.

Family-friendly attractions include the Fundy Aquarium, which showcases local marine life and is a fun stop for kids. Nearby Kingsbrae Gardens offers expansive flower displays and a small animal area where children can explore themed playhouses and garden spaces. For a classic Saint Andrews stay, the Algonquin Resort provides historic charm and waterfront views.
Whether you’re drawn by the seaside scenery, the relaxed downtown, or the tidal drama of the Bay of Fundy, Saint Andrews by the Sea is a delightful spot to include on your New Brunswick travels. Take your time, watch a sunset from the park, and enjoy wandering the streets of this welcoming coastal town.
