Island Green Tropical Smoothie Recipe for Refreshing Energy

I love Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s Island Green, but it can get pricey—so I created this copycat version to enjoy the same flavor for less. This green detox smoothie blends spinach or kale with mango, pineapple, and banana for a naturally sweet, nutrient-packed breakfast or snack. Making it at home means fresher ingredients, no added sugar, and total control over what goes into your drink.

Notes

Spinach and kale are both excellent for smoothies; fresh or frozen work well.

If you don’t have coconut water, plain water will work—though coconut water adds extra electrolytes and flavor.

Tips:

  • Using frozen fruit helps create a thick, icy texture—fresh fruit tends to yield a looser consistency.
  • To make a smoothie bowl, use only ½ cup coconut water and top with fresh pineapple, banana, shredded coconut, chia seeds, or your favorite toppings.

Storage: Best fresh, but store in the refrigerator up to 24 hours. To freeze, pour into ice cube trays and freeze up to 3 months; thaw in the fridge overnight and reblend with a splash of liquid.
