Fish is an excellent source of lean protein and I aim to include it in our family meals at least once a week. I’m pleased to share this Alaska pollock recipe in partnership with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute — a quick, nutritious stir-fry that’s full of flavour.
Why Choose Alaska Pollock?
Alaska pollock is a wild-caught fish that’s harvested from clean Pacific waters. It’s a sustainable option, not farmed, and is free from artificial colours, preservatives and pesticides. Its mild flavour and firm texture make it versatile and family-friendly.
The Health Benefits of Alaska Pollock
Alaska pollock is very low in fat — under 1% — and provides high-quality protein. A typical 85 g portion delivers around 16 g of easily digested protein and a useful amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Regularly eating lean, complete proteins supports muscle maintenance, a healthy metabolism and overall wellbeing.
Alaska seafood is also a good source of vitamins E, C, D and A, and minerals such as zinc, iron, selenium and calcium, contributing to a balanced diet.

What’s in This Alaska Pollock and Noodles Recipe?
This straightforward recipe uses frozen Alaska pollock fillets, dried egg noodles, a stir-fry vegetable mix, soy sauce and Chinese five spice. You can use fresh vegetables or a frozen stir-fry mix — the frozen option makes this a reliable store-cupboard meal that’s quick to prepare when fresh produce isn’t available.
The dish is designed for minimal prep: cook the noodles, stir-fry the fish and vegetables, toss everything together with seasoning, and serve. It’s especially handy for evenings when you want a healthy dinner without a lot of chopping or fuss.

Can You Cook Pollock from Frozen?
Yes. Alaska pollock can be cooked straight from frozen or you can defrost it first. For safe, even defrosting, leave it in the fridge overnight, or for quicker thawing place the sealed fillets in a bowl of cool water until softened.
Can You Adapt This Stir-Fried Pollock and Noodles Recipe?
Absolutely. You can substitute salmon or another firm white fish if you prefer; cooking times will be similar. Swap the egg noodles for another noodle type or serve the stir-fry over rice. For extra heat, drizzle chilli oil or add fresh sliced chillies at the table. A splash of sesame oil stirred in before serving adds a pleasant nutty note.
What to Do with Leftovers
Fish is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers from this pollock and noodle stir-fry will keep in the fridge for one day. Reheat gently to avoid overcooking the fish.
